Role Overview
The National Youth Helpline (NYHL) is looking for a qualified female Sindhi-speaking counselor to provide confidential and supportive telephonic counseling to young people. The counselor will help address issues such as mental health concerns, reproductive health, academic pressure, family problems, substance use, gender-based violence (GBV), and other youth-related challenges. The role also requires sensitivity while dealing with clients from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds, including Pashto-speaking communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide empathetic and non-judgmental counseling over the phone in Sindhi and Urdu (knowledge of English will be an advantage)
- Conduct basic psychosocial assessments and provide Psychological First Aid (PFA) when needed
- Identify high-risk cases and refer them to appropriate services in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records according to organizational policies
- Support helpline outreach activities such as awareness sessions and trainings
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, including Pashto-speaking individuals
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree (16 years of education) in Psychology (Clinical Psychology / M.Phil. / Clinical Diploma preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of relevant counseling experience (telephonic or online counseling preferred)
- Fluency in Sindhi and Urdu is required; English proficiency is an added advantage
- Strong communication, active listening, empathy, and crisis management skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential cases professionally
